I love this book! It's an easy read and it's helping me to keep my eyes where they belong...off of those numbers on my scale and onto the God who made me. It's helping me to get my focus as I get my heart and my head where they need to be. I highly recommend getting a hard copy of this book, but if you get a digital copy, just have a journal handy and you'll be fine (that's what I'm doing). The weight that you'll lose from following this is far beyond the numbers on your scale. Great book!

My life has been filled with a love for food and a hatred of exercise. I'm 32 and have been out of shape and overweight for as long as I can remember. I read this book and it inspired me. You can feel the passion and encouragement coming off the pages. It's obvious that Cody Bobay wants you to be healthy and enjoy life. My wife and I are on the last week of our 40 Day Challenge from the book and it has been amazing. It hasn't just been a diet for us, but a new lifestyle of healthy eating, consistent exercise, and getting the rest we need. I know it will take a while to undo the decades I have invested in my current physique, but this book gave me the tools to be healthy, not just continue to balloon up and down from one diet to the next. Im already enjoying more quality time with my kids because I feel better and am motivated to get off the couch.
For years I've known that I wanted to change my lifestyle, change my body and become healthier. I struggled for so long to stay motivated and focused long enough to really experience the change that I claimed to want. I believe that what I was waiting for was that "Ah-HA!" moment, something that I could point to as my motivator that would be a great, inspirational story to tell someday. What Cody's book has helped me to understand is that my unhealthy lifestyle was preventing me from living the kind of life that allowed me to feel motivated and inspired. I couldn't wait for my heart and mind to change before I began to change my routine and my body, but instead allow the changes I could control to encourage the changes that I could not. I've just begun my journey, and am astounded at how much better I already feel after just a few weeks. Why did I love this book? It helped me realize the truth that making these changes was more than just what I wanted...it was the right thing to do.
This book has been truly life changing for me - after only one week . I have been anxious every morning to read the next days devotional. I have read other Christian based health & weight loss books before, but Lose 40lbs in 1 Day really brings together the two things that clicked with me - God's desire that we treat his temple with respect, and the effect that negative self talk can have in my life. It may not be the same for everyone, but this has been like a light bulb turning on for me. As Cody says in his book, nearly everyone knows the mechanics of getting healthy - eat nutritious foods, drink plenty of water, exercise, and get sufficient rest. What this book does is explains the barriers between our head knowledge and actually putting that knowledge to work - and how to overcome them through the foundations of the Christian faith.
I have had trouble finding the motivation to tackle losing weight for what feels like the 100th time. I have been so discouraged. I read this book and something just clicked. I once again have hope of reaching a healthy weight. The main difference between this "diet" book and all the others is that it spends just as much time, if not more, on how you think and feel about yourself and food. It really goes after the root causes of why we are overweight and addresses those from a spiritual point of view. There is a wonderful devotional every day along with a page to journal your food intake. The devotionals are amazing, getting your focus and attitude where it should be, and making you feel like you're not alone. So many times it feels like he is writing directly to me, my personal thoughts and struggles. I also love the simplicity of it, it hasn't felt too hard or overwhelming at all. I'm only on week 2, but so far, so great!
